MediMin, Inc. Brings New Healthcare Concept to the Valley of the Sun

Valley healthcare provider partners with Food City and Bashas’ Supermarkets
to offer healthcare convenience inside stores

PHOENIX – MediMin medical clinics make healthcare as easy to find as the corner grocery store. MediMin, Inc., a privately held corporation based in Avondale, Ariz., is opening minor care medical clinics in the Phoenix metropolitan area in partnership with Food City and Bashas’ Supermarkets.

The clinics are staffed by family nurse practitioners who diagnose and treat a variety of common ailments such as pink eye and upper respiratory infections, and prescribe medication and administer vaccines as needed. “Our nurse practitioners care for many of the same common illnesses for which patients seek care from a doctor’s office or emergency room,” said Mike Dunn, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for MediMin. “At MediMin patients have a significantly shorter wait time and the convenience of immediate access to the store pharmacy and over-the-counter medications.”

Patients in need of minor healthcare receive treatment without an appointment seven days a week, including evenings, and most services are expected to cost about $50. "We are excited to work with MediMin and be able to offer this affordable service to our customers," said Ralph Woodward, Senior VP of Retail Operations, Bashas' Inc.

“MediMin is the first operation of its kind in the state of Arizona, and one that we believe will have a positive effect on people in need of convenient, affordable healthcare,” said Rob Tofil, MediMin’s C.E.O. “Our goal is to provide high-quality healthcare and medical expertise for common ailments in a time-sensitive, cost-effective manner.”

Family nurse practitioners treat patients one year of age and older for a variety of common ailments such as strep throat, cough, cold, flu, sinus infections, and allergies, and in most cases, patients are able to get the care they need in approximately 15 minutes.

“This concept has proven itself in other states, and appeals to patients of all ages, income levels and demographics,” said Tofil. “Our market is essentially any individual in need of convenient, affordable, minor healthcare.” MediMin accepts cash and most major insurance plans, and patients are never turned away because of insurance status.

Bashas’ executives have been following the in-store clinic concept for a period of time. “We hope by bringing MediMin into our stores we can provide Arizona families with a convenient, cost-efficient way to treat their non-emergency medical conditions,” said Mike Proulx, President and C.O.O., Bashas' Inc.

The first MediMin clinic will open on March 18 at the Food City located at 91st Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix. In May, two clinics will open inside Bashas’ Supermarkets, one at Grayhawk Drive and Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, the other at the Bashas’ located at 75th Avenue and Thunderbird Road in Peoria. The clinics will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
